The ‘subtlest’ of the pieces.
The oak selected had several natural fracture lines which became larger after the piece was boiled in water and then baked for several hours in a low temperature oven. Reversed clamps were used to force the work apart into a variety of pieces.
This time the edges were hand carved (rather than the sawn edges of #1 or the cleaved edges of #2) and the piece joined as closely as possible thus keeping its original shape whilst taking on its new identity.
