Man has always had a deep relationship with wood; it has provided him with shelter, tools, weapons, heat, transport and a cornucopia of other things since time began.
The discovery of Bronze Age boats and piers demonstrates its incredible durability.
The British Isles are blessed with a variety of trees that have provided us with many of life’s necessities and luxuries. From the furniture created from Ash, Elm and Beech to the Willow blade of the cricket bat, and from the Yew longbows that won at Agincourt to the mighty hulls of Nelson’s Oak warships.
